K. Dixon Wright launched his surety career in 1981 and has spent four decades building convergent expertise across agency operations, brokerage, and insurance technology. He founded North Coast Surety Insurance Services and North Coast Surety Technologies; the former was acquired by Wells Fargo Insurance Services in 2009 and the latter evolved into SRC Digital Insurance Services, a firm focused on developing next-generation surety products and services.
Dixon’s work centers on expanding open data standards like XBRL and embedding open standards into underwriting, project management, and performance measurement tools for the Construction, Energy, and Transportation industries.
His initiatives reduce administrative friction, lower the cost of placing surety credit, and enable small and emerging businesses to compete for bonded work. He has led efforts to streamline the exchange of contractor financial statements with surety underwriters, created beta analytics and a Performance Measurement dashboard submitted to the Department of Energy’s Apps for Energy Contest, and contributed to DOE-funded Orange Button efforts.
Dixon’s objective is pragmatic industry interoperability: align trade-association standards, integrate XBRL into smart grid and utility project workflows, and broaden the pool of qualified, bonded local contractors while improving contractor default risk management. He currently leads SRC Digital Insurance Services and serves on the board of OB Alliance Inc., bringing strategic leadership to product development, standards advocacy, and pilot implementations that create measurable market impact.
